Evidence
When Dennis Nilsen began to kill his victims, he lived in a flat that had a garden nearby. He was not worried about disposing of the bodies. When Dennis began to kill, he dismembered the bodies using his butchering skills that he gained in the army. He would wait until he had a safe time to bring the dismembered bodies to the garden near his aparment. He would begin a bonfire. He would burn the bodies of the victims in the bonfire, while also burning tires to hide the smell of burning flesh. Although he did not burn or dispose all of the bodies, nobody suspected anything from the bonfires in the garden. When he moved to a different flat, on the top floor, hiding the bodies became harder and harder. Dennis had nowhere to burn or dispose of the bodies. He began to hide them around his apartment. He hid the bodies in the closet, under the floorboards and in the cabinets under the sink. He kept many of the victims heads in the cupbourd. It is noted that Dennis would boil the heads to rid them of flesh. He would also disect the victims into smaller pieces that were able to be flushed down the toilet. He began to dispose of his victims that way. When neighbors began to complain about the foul smell, he convinced them that is was due to the faulty structure of the building. When the building's sewage had a blockage, a company was called to unblock it. The company soon realized that the drain was blocked by a fleshy type substance. When it was furtherly inspected, it was determined that the substance was, in fact, human remains. The police were automatically called to investigate. They had found that the human remains were originating from Nilsen's apartment. When Nilsen was arrested in 1983 on the suspicion of multiple murders, he apologized for not knowing the exact number of victims. The police began to investigate Nilsen's flat. When they entered his apartment, they noticed the awful smell of decomposiing flesh. They then found three heads in the cupboard, and also found 13 other bodies in Nilsen's previous apartment.
